Episode 10 - Cabin Pressure

He didn't know why, but Dandalf was finding daily life hard again. Feeling alone and isolated, he realised that this was another rough patch that would take some work. It didn't seem like the stress and anxiety was justified, which in many ways makes it hard to work through. How do you acknowledge and fix problems that aren't really real and tangible? There were various potential reasons he could think of that may be causing him unhappiness and anxiety: - work-related pressures - missing Mrs Dandalf - money stresses - feeling overwhelmed and alone Did he need help? He'd try to power through, and some of his situation would change and improve in the coming weeks, but his heart rate had been through the roof for what felt like weeks, or even months, and didn't show signs of subsiding just yet. And it came in waves and peaks. The Western world was dealing with some of the worst problems in a long time, and life really felt very grim at times. Was change requ...

Episode 9 - Flying Round the World

Dandalf had been busy. Or at least he bloody well hoped he had been. After a whole year with no word from everyone's least favourite Wizard friend, the masses had missed him, forgotten about him and were now starting to wonder if he ever really did exist. He'd dissipated. He'd turned into a one hit wonder, or a fad, or maybe he never really took off to begin with. Maybe his ego had just deflated over time and nobody had ever known about him. The most important question was, did he really care? As usual, Dandalf's awareness of time and space had gotten away from him. Even human time had gone so quickly he was wishing he could slow things down. He seemed to wake up one day in the same place he had left 6 years prior, and was trying to figure out if he'd really actually moved. More importantly he was scrambling for good stuff to justify the last 6 years. As a start, he took some time to sit down and reflect on the year that had been. Baby steps are always required ...

Episode 8 - High Sobriety

Things had been going well for Dandalf. He wasn't experiencing that feeling that he used to on a regular basis - the voices that used to tell him to f**k fear and drink beer. It did rear it's ugly head now and again though, and it was at those times that Dandalf felt loneliest. Having such a strong feeling of discontent, wanting to do something so bad but not being able to. It was awful.Where do you turn when nothing satisfies that urge? Clean living was awseome most of the time, but sometimes he'd wake up and really feel like his efforts were completely futile. Was anything he was doing actually making a difference to his life? He had often heard people talk about how, in life, nothing worth fighting for was easy to come by. It was true. Sometimes he just didn't want to fight though. He started to realise that it was really all about finding something else that would give him a buzz. He was presented with a few options - try some exercise, do something risky...

Episode 7 - Coming down, clouds with a frown

Dandalf had lived a life of excess for too long. The Summer had been a haze of magic Wizard's cocktails, sun, sea and A&E. Dandalf couldn't even bring himself to write about his travels as he had so fondly, albeit infrequently, chronicled in the past. He found himself in the office, feeling like he'd woken up from a dream and landed in a nightmare, struggling to piece together the last few months of craziness over the Summer and Christmas period. Being that he was a real Wizard, Dandalf never celebrated Christmas, but he went along with the festivities nonetheless. He couldn't be religious, knowing that he was actually part of something bigger than the world he existed in. What he could do, is have a bloody good time with people he could tolerate for extended periods of time. He had taken the opportunity to stop caring about anything over the holidays, clear his mind of everything and everyone that mattered to him, and lose himself in the madness of drinks...

Episode 6 - Blue skies, Wizard's highs (and lows)

Summer arrived far quicker than Dandalf had anticipated. Fashion wasn't his forte, and he desperately needed a new outfit. He detested spending heaps of money on fashion items, but he also hated looking like a complete wizard-clown after buying cheap product, and it had happened many a time. It was a constant internal battle - he could see the value in buying the more expensive products but really didn't want to invest. He knew if he tried to go cheap he'd end up regretting it. But he also despised sales assistants who looked their beaky little noses down at him. Major 1st Wizard-world problems. Dandalf liked to think that he had his priorities straight in the battle of Material items vs Things that really matter, though he did like to indulge every now and again. He wasn not impervious to capitalism by any means. Dandalf looked at himself in the changing room mirror as he tried on a nice set of board shorts. It had been a while since he'd reall...

Episode 5 - Flying High

Dandalf was in a particularly creative mood today. It was funny, he could still produce great ideas on a daily basis even without motivation half of the time. He was talented, but if he was able to maintain the high level of enthusiasm and passion that he felt today, he knew himself that he could achieve real greatness. His mind often wondered, and sometimes he felt weighed down by the pressures of day to day life. Unable to be completely himself for such a large part of every day definitely took it's toll. Today, though, Dandalf was on top form. Smiley and focussed, ready to show the world what he could do. He felt a great idea come to him like a swift kick to the solar plexus - out of the blew and completely unnecessary. This was one he wouldn't let go of! As he poured his all into the mundane miniature catalogue he was tasked with completing, he wrote this shit down and vowed to follow up. When these kind of ideas came to light, Dandalf often considered if he should ev...

Episode 4 - International Flight

Dandalf was excited as hell. He was packing up to head over to the annual Wizard conference across the water, the BIGGEST Wizard conference in the Southern Hemisphere - Wizz-o-rama. Strangely enough, Dandalf hated flying in Aeroplanes. He had far more confidence in his own aviation skills than some random mortal who was cocky enough to take hundreds of lives into his own hands. This would be a challenge. If he could have gotten away with it, he would have flown himself, but air space was something the humans had locked down big time over the years. Dandalf could remember a time when he used to fly right under their radar on his stylus100, no problems. He'd feel better when he could be at the conference, safe amongst his peers, hidden away from any danger. There was no greater power in one room than that one day a year. Dandalf even packed his favourite blue pants which he only ever took out for special occasions. The invitation had come through to him via encrypted Wizz-mai...
