Episode 2 – The Bumpy Runway
As Dandalf flew to work on an average sunny day in his
hometown of Lamilton, he suddenly felt he was being followed.
A beautiful Bellbird swooped past him with poise and grace,
what a fantastic start to the day! This was going to be a good one.
Dandalf landed in a secluded spot just 5 minutes walk from
work to avoid suspicion. Flying was just too quick a method of transport to
give up and, on the odd occasion when he was running late, it was just way
easier to skip the traffic.
As he walked into work, a sudden feeling of dread loomed
over him. It was, in fact, going to be a particularly busy day, and using his
wizard’s skills for design work was out of the question. The Inbox labelled
“Today” was full to the brim with all kinds of evil. Oh how a day can flip turn
upside down, just like that.
Regardless, he’d soldier on and get through some good work,
so long as none of the Account Managers bothered him. Now that would be his
biggest challenge of all. to
One guy in particular was really grinding his gears, really
pushing for dispatch files for one of their clients, and using bad puns to try
and come across as friendly and banterful. Deryk was becoming tiresome. The
tiny Account Manager was testing his patience.
Who did he think he was!? Asking Dandalf if he was having “Dispatch-io
soup” for lunch, or was it maybe “Cabbage Dis-patch soup”!? He was bothering
Dandalf and offering him refreshments.
This guy was at him all day with the bad puns and the
insincere offers of light refreshements, and if it wasn’t for the restrictions
set by human design techniques, he’d have actually got it all done in time.
“Fuck off Deryk!” Dandalf screamed inside his own head. Under
usual circumstances, Dandalf would bat this motherfucker with his stylus
walking stick/all-in-one transport tool, but the people of earth tend to frown
on that.
Dandalf really struggled with the limitations of human
design sometimes. HTML5!? How about HRMLxxl (Hyper real markup language),
hologramatic banners that reach out from the computer, grab your face and pin
your eyelids open whilst streaming information into your eyes, and messages
that appear in the clouds whilst you daydream!? Now that was design!
Dandalf saw the future of advertising, and it was a wizard’s
future...
